The fire started in the kitchen area and spread via the ductwork throughout the roof of the building. Crews worked interiorly to prevent the fire from spreading to the dining area. There were approximately 50 patrons inside when the fire was discovered. Infant Revived.... Cardiopulmonary resuscitation has saved another life. This time, that life belongs to a one month old Avoca infant. On Monday, July 9th, the infant started to choke on some mucus that built up in its airway. Quick actions by neighbors, including C.P.R. saved the life of the infant. Upon arrival of the Avoca EMS and Rescue, the infant's breathing was starting to return to normal. Crews completed an evaluation of the child, and transported with Plains Medic 2 to a local health-care facility. Avoca emergency workers commend the neighbors quick actions, and encourage all residents of the community to undergo C.P.R. training. The life that is saved just may be that of a loved one!
